Was the radioactive spider bite that gave Peter his powers a coincidence...or something more? The mysterious Ezekiel offers him a shocking explanation: Peter is the latest in a long line of people gifted with incredible spider powers. But Peter won't be able to think about his origin for long. Shathra, a being from another dimension who sees Spider-Man as prey, has sensed his presence. Outgunned and on the run, Spidey can only rely on his wits and courage to avoid becoming Shathra's next prey. In the collection The Life and Death of a Spider there is also a long-awaited meeting between Mary Jane and Peter. Will he take one last chance and reconcile? This collection contains issues #46-50 of The Amazing Spider-Man series, written by Hugo Award-winner J. Michael Straczynski (TV series Babylon 5) and cartoon star John Romita Jr. Incredible Hulk).
